I was once a Evangelical Christian. I did the whole laying on of hands, speaking in tongues and general spouting of hate. Of course I didn't realize that is what I was doing. I thought what I was doing was spreading love. I consider myself blessed that I was able to break free of the bondage of religion and can now express my true self.
A great man once said, "You must be the change that you want to see in the world." I hope to change every day.
As a teenager in Southern Missouri I attended an evangelical church at least once a week. More often it was three times a week. One Sunday morning the preacher actually stated in his sermon that everything the preacher said was the word of God and can be trusted without question. After the service I asked him where I could find it in the Bible because I wanted to study it. He said (and I quote word for word) "Oh, you won't find it in the Bible. But trust me, its true."
Yeaaaaahhhh... That's why my teacher back at Bible college told us not to believe everything we were taught and to do our own research. I really like this one. It's great stuff! And something I would warn about as well.
