I was once a Evangelical Christian. I did the whole laying on of hands, speaking in tongues and general spouting of hate. Of course I didn't realize that is what I was doing. I thought what I was doing was spreading love. I consider myself blessed that I was able to break free of the bondage of religion and can now express my true self.
A great man once said, "You must be the change that you want to see in the world." I hope to change every day.
It has come to my attention that quoting Christians from Christian forums isn't always accurate because it is often difficult to tell if they are being serious or sarcastic. So, for a while anyway, all of my "Actual Christian Quotes" will be from public religious leaders. These are the people that many Christians look to for spiritual guidance. These are men and women that should be held accountable for their comments and actions.
I don't like Pat Robertson. I've disagreed with him in the past. Maybe I was too quick to judge, but I don't think I'm missing anything by not watching his show.
Uh, I like how he's trying to make some common ground with our Jewish brethren but, well, this is really just a slap in their face. Pat needs to stop saying these things. It makes other Christians look bad - and it's just not true, as well as being highly disrespectful toward the Jewish.
I heard from a Jewish man I met once that they prefer the term "Jewish" over "Jews." Just an interesting side note. Or maybe that was just his preference?
