I was once a Evangelical Christian. I did the whole laying on of hands, speaking in tongues and general spouting of hate. Of course I didn't realize that is what I was doing. I thought what I was doing was spreading love. I consider myself blessed that I was able to break free of the bondage of religion and can now express my true self.
A great man once said, "You must be the change that you want to see in the world." I hope to change every day.
I have actually heard some neoconservatives refer to liberals as being fascists. That being said, they have also claimed that liberalism, socialism, communism, fascism and Nazism are all the same thing. Just another indication that the loudest of these people rarely think for themselves.
Random thought since this seems to be at a protest rally: I'm not sure it's right for a Christian to attend a protest rally against homosexuality. I don't think Jesus or any other New Testament believer ever really did things like this (okay, I think John the Baptist did, but not sure past him). Some churches hold protest rallies but are really hateful towards others or are protesting something no one even needs to protest against (Heath Ledger's funeral, anyone?) and this only makes other Christians look bad. That and I think it violates Jesus' teaching in John 3:17 that he didn't come to condemn others. Thoughts?
