I was once a Evangelical Christian. I did the whole laying on of hands, speaking in tongues and general spouting of hate. Of course I didn't realize that is what I was doing. I thought what I was doing was spreading love. I consider myself blessed that I was able to break free of the bondage of religion and can now express my true self.
A great man once said, "You must be the change that you want to see in the world." I hope to change every day.
I've started to read your comic and agree that most christens are blind followers that maim and ignore their own teachings. I how ever do believe in god due to what has happened in my life to show that someone is protecting me. I love that you want to challenge blind faith and the stupid bigotry that it causes, but please know that some of us are sane don't buy every feel good or you die book out there and wish to talk with people happily and non judgmentally about their views so that growth can happen.
I have many friends that are exactly like you. I love them dearly and have no problem with them. Belief in God is not a bad thing. It only becomes bad when people use that belief as an excuse to commit horrible acts. One of those horrible acts is coming to my door to invite me to church and then insisting on saving my soul when I politely say, "No, thank you." You can invite me to church all you want. Who knows? I might even say yes. But as soon as I say no, the proper thing to do is smile, turn around and walk away.
Yeah, conservatives or Christians or whatever need to do those things more often. Reach out, do some community service, feed the homeless, give to the poor, etc. It's something liberals do a good job at doing/encouraging.
@white4lima - Ha ha, yesss... I find it hilarious too.
@liamdelf/Michael - That's awesome, man! It's what I believe too. Glad to get to understand your point of view better.
