I was once a Evangelical Christian. I did the whole laying on of hands, speaking in tongues and general spouting of hate. Of course I didn't realize that is what I was doing. I thought what I was doing was spreading love. I consider myself blessed that I was able to break free of the bondage of religion and can now express my true self.
A great man once said, "You must be the change that you want to see in the world." I hope to change every day.
While I'm not gay, I do identify with those who are or were bullied. I was a victim of severe bullying. I was teased daily and recieved vicious beatings. You are right, It Does Get Better. The only option is survival.
You are welcome
You're welcome...to both of you. I too suffered my share of bullying as a child and I freely admit to considering suicide during those years. It saddens me greatly that things have gotten worse.
...it was in response to many more than three kids. It's just that those three were the only ones that got media attention. There many many gay and transgender kids that end up committing suicide because of they way they are treated. And the bullying isn't just from other kids. A lot of the bullying comes from adults.
Lonwol, if everyone that disagreed with homosexuality thought like you did, it would be a much happier world. You don't have to support being gay, but at least you show respect. That is a very positive thing.
Being homosexual, you hear this all the time. "It alright to be gay" and "Dont use the term gay as derogatory" but never have I read/heard someone lay out it like that and that really touched me on a personal level. Thank you.
You are welcome JJ. This is a message that every young LGBT person should hear. If you could help by continuing to spread the message that it gets better, I would be extremely grateful. Let the younger generation know that there are people that love them and will help them. They need to know. They need our support.
